Momma Never Told Me There'd Be Days Like These

Ok, folks, my wife and I are really sick and the kids are really healthy, so I have a little time to work on my blog in between the Ibuprophen, Tylenol, and inhaling vitamin C like it's the last crack on earth.

Very rarely have Tracie and I ever been sick at the same time. I can only remember one other time. It wouldn't be such a big deal, but we now have a very active 11 month old baby. Last night I was laying on the couch and Tracie was in the big chair. We just stared at each other and occasionally moaned. We called all the kids into the room (the three oldest). I was pretty delirious, so I'm not sure what I said, but it might have gone something like this, "If you want to go to heaven, you will do everything I say." Then ,I think I threatened them that if they didn't I would lock them in a room and make them listen to k.d. lang, which I assured them would result in extensive counseling after the fact.

Now you would think that time home with your spouse would improve relations and open up lines of communication. However when my wife spilled her coffee down the front of her shirt, the most romantic thing that came out of my mouth was, "Hey baby, if you put one more stain on that t-shirt you're wearing, I just might ask you out."

At one point, Tay asked if he could get on the computer and I yelled out, "NO, DOES THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH TAKING CARE OF YOUR PARENT'S NEEDS!"

I've added a few things in the sidebar. Take note of the "Best of John Loux" in the sidebar. I have posted two of the ones that make people laugh the hardest, however I am open to your nominations as well. Anything you think I should add?

I laughed so hard at the stained tshirt comment it's making me cough.

I am so sorry you guys are both sick, maybe you could put up like a lunge line, and then harness elia to it? Like a really long leash? Is that inhumane?

praying for you guys... it cracks me up that you are funny, even when sick.

You should add "The Confession Booths."

John,
I don't know if you remember me, but my name is Missy (Locke) Knouse. I graduated from Wellsboro High School with you in 1988. This year is our 20th high school reunion. Those in charge of finding everyone and sending out invitations were having a hard time finding you, so I thought I'd give it a try. I just love "Google." Anyway, I've been reading your blog--great stuff! You have a beautiful family. I also googled Derek, and I see that he lived in Indianapolis for a while. I actually live in McCordsville, a small town outside of Indy, and I teach in Fishers, also outside of Indy. My family and I have been here since 1997. What a small world! Anyway, If you are interested in receiving information about the reunion, just let me know. If you would like, I can forward you the email from Jill Worden--she is in charge of mailing out all the invites. Take Care!

Please add the squirrel story - I laughed for so long and now every time I see a squirrel I laugh out loud - people look and I say "oh Nevermind..." I could never do your story justice!

John,
I guess I'm a few days late, but on the same track as Missy a couple comments back,... This is Jeffrey Mosher from Wellsboro High School class of '88. you might not remember me, you used to call me Brian ;-) mixing me with Brian Dean who I used to hang out with quite a bit there at school. I think the last time we ran into each other was a Loux Family Singers (partial or whole group?) performance at Mansfield University, late 80's or early 90's.
I'm still in Tioga Co., but living over in Liberty, working mainly for WDKC KC101 radio, #1 station in the county for the past 12 years. doing news sports programming music billing and tons of other duties. I also have a mobile DJ/Audio contracting business, and was partnered with Russ Root for a little while in the mid-90s.
otherwise, borough councilman, Sunday School Superintendent over in Nauvoo, near Morris, and dad to two little girls 2 1/2 and nearly 7 months old with my wife Sarah who's from Michigan.
Anyway, IF you can make it back to the Wellsboro area for May 24th I'm sure lots of folks would love to see you. Banquet's at the new High school, after-party that I'm DJing (sorta) is at the Penn Wells.
Take care
God Bless
Jeff

Missy and Jeff,
Yes I remember you guys. Thanks for contacting me. I'd love to come, but I'm headed to Washington DC that weekend, where we'll be for a month.

Once I get over the fact that I've been out of HS for 20 years, I'll blog about it!

Have a great time.

John
